Lodging, amenities and atmosphere - very good. Peaceful, relaxing and quiet hideaway place.Best place to enjoy alone time.Very good service and very much flexible with guest requirements.
Wonderful home, a perfect place to cool down. The architecture is great.
We stayed here for 3 nights and we were very happy we chose this bed and breakfast. Manahari, the hostess, was so helpful with everything. Great recommendations. And the Sri Lankan breakfasts...!!!!! amazing. The room was terrific, spacious for two with a lovely balcony. We had use of the galley kitchen downstairs so we could keep cold drinks and ice. It was nicely just on the outskirts of Colombo - tuk tuk prices to Colombo Fort were around 350 - 500 rupees, depending on the driver :-) . Also, we were going to take the train from Colombo to Unawatuna, but our hostess recommended to take a coach from the bus station. Very happy we did. Instead of a 2.5 hour train ride with out any guarantee of a sitting place, we rode in an air-con compfy coach for 410 rupees each! fantastic. Thanks, Manahari!
From the moment we were greeted we felt a homely sense. Our host was welcoming, friendly and helpful and we felt like we were in a little oasis. The house and our room had style and charm, and the plants and water feature added a tranquil feel. Breakfast cooked by our lovely our host was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.
the property was quaint.
Love the decor and quietness of the environment. The uncle is very nice and friendly though he doesn't speak English. Really appreciate the kindness of the lady owner to let us checkout late as our flight is very late at night. Good welcome drink (coconut from the backyard). Extra cuteness with the pugs and tortoise!
None.
This place is amazing....
BUDGETED MANAGEMENT DIDNT GAVE ME EVEN ROOM A C REMOTE
very good to stay
very interesting decoration, great feel, sri lankan,
Incredibly hosting guesthouse. The lady went out of her way to make me feel at home and comfortable. Cosy room with a pretty little balcony overlooking the garden. delicious morning meal within the morning - I even got to sample to homegrown mango from the garden!
The owner was very friendly and helpful. She gave us many tips. The Room was nice and clean. We can recommend this place.
excellent homestay which provides a preview to sri lankan culture and architecture. the lady managing the house is very helpful and warm. The cook makes excellent currry. they have their own turtle and 2 dogs
I absolutely loved My stay at the Bangalawa! After traveling around Sri Lanka this place was like a piece of heaven waiting for me in Colombo. Such a pieceful and beautiful home stay! The hosts were very helpful and warm as well. I would highly recommend this to enyone.
Superb decor. Beautifully designed and maintained.
nothing
good interior
The lady is very nice and hospitable. As we booked morning meal everyday, she used to make it per our preference each morning at scheduled time. Also, she helped get around the town by recommending places and ordering tuk tuk for us each time. There is both an a c and a fan so our room got easily chilled which is nice and was necessary. Also, we had a TV and a good wireless connections. All in all, would definitely reccomend!
A lovely cosysri lankan home and room. Manahari, our host was wonderful, and we had delicious morning meal and
Hidden costs- morning meal does not include the cost of the fruit juice, you will be charged for the welcome drink as well. We spent an extra $20 before we realized it.
the bill being presented in US dollors which almost doubled the price and when I challenge her she said I should have read the fine print.....it was an ugly situation and I would never recommend this property.
A little far from the central and difficult to find at first. Not much information about the buses. Tuktuk ride each way costs about 400 rupees. AC and breakfasts should be included within the price
1. Booked a room with air conditioned. But when you enter in room, house owner asked for 5 US dollars of A C turn on fee. The check in night confirmed without tax charge of the A C used fee. But when check out, she asked not only 5 dollars but also the 10% tax included.2. Ask for a charge of kitchen use. Gas for 2 dollars. We don't like to be charged on kitchen used. Confirmed as no charges on mug cups we only ask for use mug cup to take coffee or porridge and . But when we finish breakfast. But she ask us for 5 dollars. She said we used tap water to wash cups and used the boiling pot to the hot water. :( If she claimed the boiling water used on charge or the tap water used on charge earlier, still could be understood. But agree for free, then ask for charge is kind of cheating. I don't like that. 3.The house owner lady is always rush us to check out without a reason. from 8am to 9:30am. Never stopped. Normally the check out time should be 12:00. Even from the arrived day. We didn't begin check in she already asked when to leave tomorrow.4. The hot shower water gone very fast. Can not finish wash hair and body in a same shower. Need to do it separately. And once first warm water gone. The second round even wait for water re-heated 30 mins. Still comes out with cool water. The heater seems not doing well.5. Bath room wall is not clean. Maybe bed sheet doesn't change for each check in. Because I find broken power line last guest left on my bed...
ROOM temperature SHOWER WATER VERY POOR
a little hard to find, but well worth the hunt
The location isn't central. But you can reach the center with the bus in 20min.
the location is not one of the best in colombo. but its a home first to a family, then a homestay for travellers.
The breakfast. Its content. The fussy nature of the owner (the lady). The interior location of the property (from the main road).
cheaters! they will charge you more than the deal!have you ever heard of late check in fine ! they wanted to charge it! worst location..
i will never recommend any of my friend or traveler to go their. the worst possible location without any signboard.. they just not paying the tax to the government and doing the business illegally.. i had a horrible experience with the place. we wanted to check in little early which we informed. still the room was not ready though it was empty. and she doesn't have any stuff to clean it. so we had to wait and change outside the room because the stuffs are not available!!!We had two bookings..one in beginning of Lanka trip..one at the ending.. on the last day we wanted to check in late.. we informed... but she said we have to pay late check in! 7 8$!! and while paying i wanted to use my card.. and again wanted to charge 3% extra! none of these were mentioned within the booking page or document.. the location- my rented car
